Steppie vs Topo: Do You Need a Balance Board, a Mat, or Both?

Steppie and Topo are different types of standing-desk accessories. Steppie is a balance board; Topo is a contoured standing mat. Their construction, setup requirements and intended use differ, so review the current product information and your work area before choosing.

Balance board or contoured mat?

Steppie is a low, tilting balance board designed for use at a standing workstation. It provides a moving platform rather than a stationary standing surface.

Topo is a contoured standing mat with raised areas rather than a flat foam surface. It is a different type of accessory from a tilting board.

What to check before choosing

Compare the dimensions, available floor space and manufacturer instructions for each item. Check how the accessory will fit into your workstation, including where you will put it when it is not in use.

There is no single accessory that suits every task or workstation. Neither a job description nor being new to standing desks establishes which product is right for you. A moving platform and a contoured mat should not be treated as interchangeable.

Do you need both?

Not necessarily. Identify the function you want before adding another accessory. If your existing setup already meets your needs, you may not need either product.

Considering both products does not mean they should be used together. Follow the product-specific setup and safety instructions; we have not verified a configuration for combining them.

What neither one replaces

Do not treat an accessory as a substitute for an appropriate workstation or for changing position during the day.

Common questions

Can I stand on Topo while using Steppie?
For product-specific setup and safety information, follow the manufacturer instructions for each item. We have not verified a configuration for using these products together.

Is one better for beginners to standing desks?
Being a beginner does not by itself determine which accessory to choose. Compare the product instructions, required space and type of standing surface before deciding.

Do I need either if I already have a normal anti-fatigue mat?
Not necessarily. Compare your current mat with the function and construction of these products. A contoured mat and a tilting board are different options, not automatic upgrades for every workstation.

Which one ships faster, or is more likely to be in stock?
We do not hold inventory ourselves. Availability and delivery options are checked for the order before fulfilment, and timing can vary by item, destination and carrier. We cannot promise that the two products will arrive at the same time. If an item cannot be supplied, we will contact you and refund you.
